    BIO

Atomsmasher has always thrived in the space between sharp wit and melodic punch. Formed in New Rochelle, New York, the band made its mark with 1998’s debut Up & Atom, a cult favorite that mixed power-pop hooks with restless experimentation. Their songs have popped up everywhere from college radio to television, earning the group a loyal following on the NYC live circuit and up and down the East Coast.

Fronted by guitarist and vocalist Ed Erenberg, with his brother Brett Erenberg on keyboards, Atomsmasher has always leaned into layered guitars, stacked harmonies, and lyrics that balance absurd humor with piercing observation. Over the years, albums like All Around the World (2004) and Each Day Is Better Than the Next (2014) expanded the band’s reputation for eclectic yet cohesive rock, weaving influences from The Velvet Underground to Julian Cope to Pixies into something unmistakably their own.

After more than a decade away, Atomsmasher returned in 2025 with Keep This Secret, a record that captures the band at full strength. The album brims with the band’s signature blend: tight arrangements, sly lyrical turns, and songs that are at once immediate and enduring. Just 4 months later the band released a new single, “Cartoon Violence”, a 160 beat per minute slice of hyper-charged heavy rock.

Atomsmasher is back, in full force, right at the moment rock music needs it the most.

“Layered guitars and taut harmonies build a sense of urgency that culminates in choruses designed for live performance. It's not just aggression: there's structure, control, and a balance between edge and melody that demonstrates maturity. A comeback that doesn't look back.”

    — Primitivo

“Cartoon Violence is a frenetic, breakneck ripper that’s one-part math rock, one-part Queens of the Stone Age-like stoner rock that showcases the band’s unerring knack for hookiness paired with a playful sense of menace.” - William Ruben Helms
